Order Standard Copy

The Kid in the Courtroom tells the story of a young boy searching for his voice while caught in the middle of a confusing custody battle, where life-changing decisions are made by adults—and a judge who never asks to hear from him.

The book explores the emotions children experience when their voices go unheard in decisions about their lives, and reminds readers that no matter how young someone may be, their voice deserves to be heard.

Through this story, Cayden hopes to provide the resource he wishes he had growing up—one that helps children feel seen, heard, and empowered, while encouraging families to have meaningful conversations about emotions that often go unspoken during difficult family changes.

About The Author

Cayden Brown is a 19-year-old youth rights advocate and public speaker whose work helps young people understand and confront the systems that shape their lives. After his parents’ divorce at six, he learned what it meant to have life-altering decisions made without his voice. Determined to let no other child feel silenced in a courtroom, he became a Teen Court defense attorney at just 16. Today, he brings his mission to the world’s largest platforms.

Cayden Brown, the youngest Youth Peace Panelist in United Nations history, brings a lived perspective to conversations on youth, justice, and power.
