We are thrilled to announce that our founder and CEO of the Trespass Project, Cayden Brown has received the prestigious Youth Justice Advocate Award from the Michigan Center for Youth Justice, becoming the youngest recipient in the award’s history.
In his acceptance speech, Brown recognized other youth using their voices around the world. “I am just one voice among many young people with something to say,” Brown said as he accepted the honor. “I accept this award on their behalf as well.”
Brown’s work has been a beacon of hope and change, inspiring countless young people to take action and make their voices heard. His dedication to justice and equality has not only earned him accolades but also solidified his position as a leading figure in youth advocacy.
The award ceremony was a testament to Brown’s impact and the collective efforts of young activists everywhere. The Michigan Center for Youth Justice commended his unwavering commitment and tireless efforts in advocating for the rights and justice of youth.
Dressed impeccably for the occasion, Brown’s full look was styled by YSL, with jewelry by Tiffany & Co., and photography by Misty Bergeron. His ensemble featured an African-inspired mudcloth draped over his shoulder, a nod to his cultural heritage and a symbol of resilience and strength.
After the ceremony, Brown took to social media to share his excitement and gratitude. He posted, “‘Award-winning Activist.’ I never imagined that this would be in my bio at 17. Honored to receive the ‘Youth Justice Advocate Award’ from the Michigan Center for Youth Justice, becoming the youngest recipient in history.” He then nodded to his cultural heritage saying that his African cloth was by “Adoma & the Ancestors.”
The evening was filled with memorable moments, including a heartfelt hug between Brown and his father. Cayden shared exclusively that his father said, “I’m proud of you,” in that emotional moment.
Another highlight was Brown’s handshake with Senator Sylvia Santana, hinting at a promising partnership in the near future.
A large screen behind Brown displayed his face and biography, ending with the words: “Cayden Brown is not just participating early in the dialogue of justice, he is leading the conversation.”
This milestone is just the beginning for Brown, who continues to push boundaries and inspire a new generation of activists. His work serves as a powerful reminder that age is no barrier to making a significant impact.
